Back and employed

So I am back in Vancouver, after a three-week “holiday” in Finland. Finland was great, seeing people was great, and my dad’s birthday party was great. Coming back here was a little sad, but as my life is here now, there was no option. Vancouver is nice and all, but Finland is still home.

I am currently working as a temporary receptionist for a downtown law firm, which might sound fancier than it really is. I am bored. It’s my first day, and everybody is busy doing what they do, so I am left surfing the internet and writing my blog. Which is good I guess, since I never update this thing when I am at home.

After my return to Vancouver on August 11th, Chris and I attended his friends’ wedding on the 16th, and then I began my serious hunt for a temp job. It was waaay easier to find one this time around (compared to before going home), partly because I now have a longer stretch of time to work, partly because I found a good temping agency, but mostly because most students have returned to school, and so there are less people around to fill vacancies. I sent in my resume to this particular temping agency on Monday, had an interview on Wednesday, and a job by Friday. And that is how I like it. I am going to work here for three weeks (although at this rate, I don’t call this work), more or less, as they are currently looking for a permanent receptionist, and it might take them longer or less time to find one.

Chris and I celebrated our first anniversary on Saturday, and went on a dinner cruise, thanks to my dear mother, who helped us out with finances. We had a buffet dinner with salmon, salads, and wine (well the wine wasn’t buffet, unfortunately), and some great views of Vancouver from the ocean. Sunday was rainy until about 3pm, and we went for a walk in the rain, and saw two seals and a crazy living sewage hole.

My introductory day at BCIT is on the 17th of September. And I still don’t know if I will get a student loan.
