I've had a productive day today. For once. It took me a while to get it started, but as the clock struck 11, I was on my way to buy an alarm clock with big glowing numbers that I can place in the living room and still see from the bedroom. Success. I also purchased a pillow to make four instead of the oh so odd and sad number of three, which was what we previously had.
After this excursion I got on the bus downtown to get myself a booklet to prepare for the damn theoretical exam and the upcoming driving lesson I have to take to make them believe I can drive over here. Apparently, if I was Canadian, American, Austrian, German, Swiss, Japanese or South Korean, they'd just take my current license and hand me one that works here, but as a Finn, I have to go through the crushing wheels of bureaucracy.
I got my booklet and the information I needed about getting a car for the test (the driving schools rent them out for an hourly rate), and I proceeded on my journey of productivity, to get myself a bank account.
Getting the bank account set up was easy enough. I won't be able to access my funds in a week though, until they know they are ok, and I don't know if they'll give me a credit card either, since I don't have any kind of credit history here. This whole system is so different from what I am used to, and I feel slightly confused at times, but luckily all the answers to all my questions are given to me by my buddy Google.
And then I got home, ate, took two classes at Denman gym, did the dishes, ate, watched Reaper.... And now Chris is on his way here. Yay! I should go meet him but my computer is warning me that there is a thunderstorm out there.
